About

The University of California GIS Week is put on by volunteers from the University of California campuses to help promote and inspire people to use mapping and geographic information sciences (GIS).

The event is designed to be inclusive for people with no GIS background wanting to learn more, in addition to serving as a venue for making meaningful connections together.

The UC GIS Week committee is made up of the following sub-committees:

If you are interested in learning more about the committee or would like to help with planning please reach out to ucgisweek@gmail.com.

Land Acknowledgement

The organizers of the UC GIS Week conference wish to acknowledge that the UCs, as land grant institutions located on and benefiting from the dispossession of the original inhabitants from their lands, have a special responsibility to respect tribal sovereignty, amplify Native voices, and contribute to Native well-being in the state of California.

Native Land Map

Native Land Digital strives to create and foster conversations about the history of colonialism, Indigenous ways of knowing, and settler-Indigenous relations, through educational resources such as our map and Territory Acknowledgement Guide. The full map covers territories, languages, and treaties.
